Well… according to some headlines, we were supposed to be chiseling cars out of ice blocks and trading firewood by now.

Instead — Pearland made it through just fine. Our forecast ended up ~99% accurate, with one small but important miss that’s worth talking about.

What Actually Happened Temps dropped as expected Precip moved through as expected No widespread icing, no citywide chaos, no apocalypse

But here’s the catch 👇 The One Miss (and Why It Matters) Because of lingering cloud cover and limited sun today, roads didn’t fully dry out in some areas.

And now: Temperatures are dropping below 32°F They’ll stay below freezing until after lunch tomorrow Any remaining moisture = ice risk

What That Means for Tonight & Tomorrow Morning Bridges and overpasses are the biggest concern Shaded roads and low spots could also ice over

Conditions may look “fine” — until they suddenly aren’t This is the sneaky kind of cold weather that catches people off guard.

Bottom Line Please don’t drive unless it’s absolutely necessary If you do drive, slow down and avoid bridges if possible Give road crews time to work and let temps come back up

And if you don’t have to go anywhere? 👉 Hot chocolate 👉 Netflix 👉 Blankets 👉 Chill (literally) Pearland did great.

We stayed informed, stayed calm, and avoided panic.

Let’s finish strong, stay home if we can, and check back in once temps rise tomorrow.
