PEARLAND, Texas — Eight individuals have been arrested following a two-month investigation into what Pearland Police describe as a large-scale organized retail theft operation.

According to a news release from the Pearland Police Department, more than 20,000 dollars in merchandise was stolen from multiple retailers in Pearland and across the greater Houston area.

How the Investigation Began

Police say the investigation started on November 30, 2025, after three female suspects were identified in connection with a theft at Academy Sports and Outdoors in Pearland.

As the investigation continued, Pearland Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit determined the same suspects were allegedly involved in similar thefts at other Academy Sports locations throughout the region.

Broader Retail Network Identified

Authorities say further investigation uncovered a broader network that included five family members. The group allegedly targeted several major retailers, including:

• Academy Sports and Outdoors • Dick’s Sporting Goods • Macy’s • JCPenney • Burlington • TJ Maxx • HomeGoods

Investigators believe the suspects stole merchandise and resold it for quick cash.

Search Warrants and Arrests

After two months of investigation, officers identified and confirmed eight total suspects. Three residential search warrants were executed last week. Authorities say they recovered more than 20,000 dollars worth of stolen merchandise.

Those arrested and charged with organized retail theft are:

• Mary Guerrero • Leo Guerrero • Leonel Gonzalez • Jacklyn Guerrero • Roberto Vega • Jaime Carrizales • Maria Prado • Cristofer Carrizales Prado

The investigation remains ongoing.
